The photovoltaic combiner cabinet is an important part of the photovoltaic system and mainly plays the role of collecting current. It combines the direct current (DC) generated by multiple photovoltaic modules (solar panels) to form a unified DC output, which is generally fed to an inverter. This avoids the need to connect multiple cables directly to the inverter, helping to simplify wiring and save space, improving the overall efficiency of the system.
PV combiner cabinets are usually equipped with overload protection equipment, such as DC circuit breakers, fuses, etc., which can effectively avoid damage to equipment caused by excessive current.
Many PV combiner boxes are also equipped with lightning protection devices, which can lead excessive voltage to the ground and have multi-level lightning protection functions to ensure that lightning strikes do not affect the normal output of the photovoltaic array.
The combiner cabinet has both current and voltage monitoring and control functions. The current transformer in the box is used to monitor the current flowing through the bus cabinet to ensure the normal operation of the system and provide real-time data. Of course, customers can also install ammeters and voltmeters to monitor the operating status of each circuit in real time to prevent accidents. Indicator lights and alarm devices will be installed on the box. If there is an abnormal state (such as current overload or component failure), the indicator light will alarm and remind the staff to conduct timely monitoring and troubleshooting.
Many modern photovoltaic combiner cabinets also integrate communication modules, such as RS485, to connect to the monitoring system to realize remote data monitoring, fault alarm and other functions.
The casing of the combiner cabinet is usually made of waterproof, dustproof, and anti-corrosion materials, and the general protection level reaches IP65, which meets the requirements for outdoor installation to ensure its long-term stable operation in various harsh environments. With the wide application of combiner cabinets, the appearance of combiner cabinets has also been diversified in design to meet the aesthetic needs of different customers.
